Edsel Ford traveled in style to Ypsilanti for their inaugural tilt with the Railsplitters of Lincoln Consolidated High School. The Thunderbirds were looking a little rusty in the first half and surrendered a goal in the 7th minute on what could only be described as a broken play. After regrouping at halftime the Thunderbirds came out and dominated the second half. Freshman Sadie Gerlach tied up the game with a goal 14 minutes into the second stanza off a beautiful feed from Danya Hamood. Gerlach was credited with the second goal 3 minutes later after pressuring the Railsplitter defense. Zoe Megee was able to shut the door in goal to preserve the 2-1 victory. The Thunderbirds fired off 20 shots on the day. Edsel Ford is now 1-0-0 on the season and will be heading to Wyandotte this Saturday for the Wyandotte Invitational. Edsel will play Taylor Truman at 9am, Wyandotte at noon, and Southgate Anderson at 3. See you there!
