The Railsplitters of Lincoln Park rolled into Dearborn to take on the Edsel Ford Thunderbirds in the final match of the first half of the DRL season. Edsel, with a win would have a chance to grab the 5th spot going into the second half of the season. The Thunderbirds controlled the possession early with deft passing and ball movement and about 6 minutes in all of that paid off as freshman Elizabeth Kowalsky buried a nice pass from junior Frances Trimble to put the T-birds on the board. It would appear that Trimble was in the giving mood as she assisted on first half goals by sophomores Sadie Gerlach and Peyton Marion. Marion then scored her second of the evening with Gerlach getting the assist. The Thunderbirds entered the second half in control up 4-0. Georgia Ziegler got the second half started off right for the Thunderbirds scoring 3 minutes in off a pass from Frances Trimble. Olivia Cosenza from a nice feed by Peyton Marion, who then scored herself to complete the hat trick. Finally the crowd was sent home early after senior Georgia Ziegler scored the 8th goal of the night for the Thunderbirds from the 5th assist of the night for Frances Trimble. Edsel Ford will face the Railsplitters at home on Friday, not from Lincoln Park, but Ypsilanti. Come on out and see what you’ve been missing
